Aims and Objectives
Your child's happiness is our priority. Therefore, we want to provide a warm, caring and stimulating environment, in pleasant and secure surroundings to encourage your child to develop their full potential.
We have a full and comprehensive set of policies at our nursery which are available to view at nursery at any time. Our policies include:
- Staffing, Employment and Induction
- Health and Safety
- Children’s Safety
- Achieving Positive Behaviour
- Valuing Diversity and Promoting Equality
- Information Sharing and Confidentiality
- Complaints Procedure
- Safeguarding Children
- Supporting Children with Special Educational needs
Parents will appreciate the need for strict control of infections and illnesses. If in doubt as to whether your child is fit to attend the Nursery, please keep your child at home, notify the Nursery and consult your Doctor.
If your child has one or more of the following symptoms, they must not be brought into the Nursery - vomiting, diarrhoea, high temperature, eye/ear infection, head lice.
Should your child become ill at the Nursery, we shall make every effort to contact you. It is therefore ESSENTIAL that you let the staff know where you can be contacted, particularly if you are not going to follow your usual routine.
The manager reserves the right to refuse admission to any child who appears ill on arrival.
If your child is going to be absent FOR WHATEVER REASON the Nursery must be given as much prior notice as possible. Staff can be contacted at the Nursery from 7.30am - 6.00pm Monday to Friday.
Your child’s security is of paramount importance to us. Our premises are always secure and the children are constantly supervised. The only access to the building is through the front door which has a secure key code lock. Parents are given the door code after their child has been at nursery for one week and we request that this door code is not passed on. If your child is to be dropped off or collected by anyone other than their main carer, we must be informed prior to this happening and a pre-arranged password will be used to identify the new relative. We will not allow the child to leave the premises with anyone other than their main carers unless we have had notice of this.
All of our staff, including our kitchen staff and handyman, are fully CRB checked and undergo regular suitability checks. Any visitors, including outside contractors, are required to produce identification and are supervised whilst they are here.
Our Sun Safety Policy
To keep the babies and children safe whilst playing outside at nursery, we request that parents provide a labelled bottle of sunscreen to remain at nursery (factor 30 and above), a wide brimmed hat and appropriate clothing for the weather. We have a detailed policy explaining the measures we take to keep children and babies safe whilst outside, please ask if you would like a copy.
Clothing and Personal Property
Although bibs, aprons, etc, will be provided for meal times and messy play, we cannot guarantee that your child will be returned to you as clean as when they arrived!
All due care will be taken to avoid the marking of clothing but this will inevitably occur to some extent. As far as is possible, we use washable art & craft materials.
Please send your child in practical, washable clothing and ensure that a full change of clothing is provided, placed in a small slipper bag or similar.
ALL CLOTHING should be clearly marked with your child's FULL NAME. Children must not bring money or any other valuables to the Nursery. Apart from teddies or other "comforters" no personal toys will be allowed in the Nursery.
Setting down/Picking up
Parents are asked to please park OFF the road in the driveway provided.
Please use the driveway for picking up/setting down only. If you need to spend any time in the Nursery, please park at the side of the house. People using the parking facilities do so entirely at their own risk. Please drive carefully.
The Nursery accepts no responsibility for injury, damage or loss to persons, vehicles or property.
Lunch is at 11.30 am and Tea is served at 3.15pm (This will be a light Nursery tea).
Morning and afternoon drinks and snacks will also be provided.
A menu is displayed on the Nursery notice board.
Careful attention is given to provide a nutritional, healthy, balanced diet the children will love. Our qualified Cook prepares the food each day using local fresh produce.
We are able to provide both meat and vegetarian dishes daily. Our Cook will cater for any special diets, religious or allergies your child may have.
Nappies are not provided by the Nursery. Parents should make sure that an adequate supply is sent with the child. Disposable nappies only please, unless there is a medical reason for using Terries. The Nursery has limited facilities for dealing with terry nappies.
The Nursery will be open all year round except for Public Holidays and 1 week at Christmas. Parents will be notified of exact dates well in advance. There will be no reduction in fees for the weeks shortened by Public Holidays.
If any parent or carer has a complaint that cannot be resolved by management, they can contact OFSTED on 0300 123 1231.
