Health & Safety

Child Protection Policy

The Nursery has a responsibility to ensure the children in our care are developing in a safe and secure environment. If we have any concerns that a child is being harmed or injured we must report these fears to OFSTED. This decision would not be made lightly and would come after a pattern of events rather than an isolated incident.

Complaints Procedure

If any parent has a complaint that cannot be resolved by the Manager they can contact OFSTED Regional Office Tel 0845 601 4771.

Your child’s well being is our number one priority.

Aims and Objectives

Your child's happiness is our priority. Therefore, we want to provide a warm, caring and stimulating environment, in pleasant and secure surroundings to encourage your child to develop their full potential.

Equal Opportunities

Breaston Manor Day Nursery believes that no child should be excluded on the grounds of sex, class, family status, means, disability, colour ethnic culture, religion or belief. This is reflected in our choice of books, toys, dressing-up clothes, menus, pictures and games.

Admissions Policy

No child between 0 and 8 years is refused admission to the Nursery unless we are up to our maximum numbers on any particular day and that we have adequate staff cover. In that event, we operate a waiting list system and as soon as a place becomes available you will be informed.

Discipline Policy

No form of corporal punishment is practiced, either in the form of smacking, slapping or shaking. No child is mentally abused by humiliation or deprivation. If a child is continually disruptive, they are moved from the situation and have "time out" on a one-to-one basis to give them time to reflect on the situation. They can then return to their room.

If the behaviour is persistently disruptive, the parents are informed. The management reserves the right to remove a child form the nursery who is persistently disruptive and a danger to other children.

Sickness

Parents will appreciate the need for strict control of infections and illnesses. If in doubt as to whether your child is fit to attend the Nursery, please keep your child at home, notify the Nursery and consult your Doctor.

If your child has one or more of the following symptoms, they must not be brought into the Nursery - vomiting, diarrhoea, high temperature, eye/ear infection, head lice.

Should your child become ill at the Nursery, we shall make every effort to contact you. It is therefore ESSENTIAL that you let the staff know where you can be contacted, particularly if you are not going to follow your usual routine.

The manager reserves the right to refuse admission to any child who appears ill on arrival.

If your child is going to be absent FOR WHATEVER REASON the Nursery must be given as much prior notice as possible. Staff can be contacted at the Nursery from 7.30am - 6.00pm Monday to Friday.

Clothing and Personal Property

Although bibs, aprons, etc, will be provided for meal times and messy play, we cannot guarantee that your child will be returned to you as clean as when they arrived!

All due care will be taken to avoid the marking of clothing but this will inevitably occur to some extent. As far as is possible, we use washable art & craft materials.

Please send your child in practical, washable clothing and ensure that a full change of clothing is provided, placed in a small slipper bag or similar.

Breaston Manor bags are available at a cost of £3.50.

ALL CLOTHING should be clearly marked with your child's FULL NAME. Children must not bring money or any other valuables to the Nursery. Apart from teddies or other "comforters" no personal toys will be allowed in the Nursery.

Setting down/Picking up

Parents are asked to please park OFF the road in the driveway provided.

Please use the driveway for picking up/setting down only. If you need to spend any time in the Nursery, please park at the side of the house. People using the parking facilities do so entirely at their own risk. Please drive carefully.

The Nursery accepts no responsibility for injury, damage or loss to persons, vehicles or property.
